Cop injured in militant attack succumbs, toll 2
Srinagar: One more cop who was injured in a shootout at SMHS hospital Srinagar today has succumbed to injuries taking the death of the policemen killed in the attack to two.
Pertinently , militants earlier today staged a daring attack outside a hospital in Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital to free a Pakistani militant from police custody, police said.
The Pakistani militant, who was brought to the SMHS hospital for treatment, managed to escape with the assailants, a police official said.
The ultras opened firing on the police party accompanying the Pakistani militant outside the hospital in Kaka Sarai area of the city, police said.
One policeman was killed while another constable namely Babur Ahmed was critically injured in the attack.
However, Babar succumbed to injuries after battling for life in the hospital a while ago.
Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off and searches are on to track down the ultras.
