GDC Marheen organises Seminar on Road Safety to promote Traffic Awareness

KATHUA: The Road Safety Club and NSS volunteers of Government Degree College Marheen came together to organize a Seminar focused on the critical theme of “Road Safety.”

The seminar held under the esteemed patronage of Principal of the college Dr. Anupama Gupta, was aimed to galvanize youth and students towards proactive measures in road safety.

Dr. Anupama Gupta addressed the attendees, emphasizing the pivotal role of NSS volunteers and students in fostering a culture of road safety. She urged them to spearhead campaigns promoting the use of helmets while driving two-wheelers, seat belt usage, adherence to zebra crossings and traffic lights, and restricting vehicle access to individuals below eighteen without a valid driving license. Highlighting the alarming rate of road accidents and youth fatalities, she stressed the urgent need for awareness among the younger generation.

The NSS Programme Officer Dr. Arun Dev Singh who is also the convener of the Road Safety Club, reiterated the government’s support and guidance in promoting traffic rules. Encouraging students to leverage available platforms, he underscored the importance of proactive engagement in road safety initiatives.

Neha, Kanika, Surekha, and Dharamveer, NSS volunteers, shared their perspectives on the theme, fostering dialogue and addressing queries from their peers. The presence of esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Balbinder, Dr. Munisha, Dr. Shallu, Prof. Preeti, Prof. Tripti, Dr. Barneet, and Dr. Reemi, further enriched the discourse.

The Seminar underscored the collective commitment of GDC Marheen’s community towards promoting road safety awareness and fostering responsible citizenship.
