Yateem Foundation holds ‘Welcome Ramadhan’ programme

Srinagar: J& K Yateem Foundation (JKYF) organised “Welcome Ramadhan” programme at its Central Headquarters “Baitul Hilal” Jawahar Nagar, here, a statement issued on Monday said.

The programme is a part of public outreach initiative to sensitise the society about urgent need to come forward for extending helping hand to the orphans, widows and needy irrespective of caste, colour, creed,  region or religion.

Addressing the programme titled “Together with Orphans, Widows & Needy”, former Vice Chancellor Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Prof (Dr) Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqui called for inculcating sense of belonging towards the poor, needy and destitute and holy month of Ramadhan remains training period for one and all to lead pious and peaceful life besides taking care of poor, needy and destitute with magnanimous approach.

Dr Siddiqui emphasized on creating democratic ecosystem within the social service organizations for long term sustainability of human and monetary resources. He called for generating literate and educated younger generation to cope with the emerging challenges so that they could reap benefits of professional careers in the contemporary world.

Prof Siddiqui enjoined upon the management of JKYF to harness the latent talent of youngsters being taken care of in its orphanages through skill based education for which he committed to facilitate with the technical expertise.

Quoting last sermon of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Prof Siddiqui stressed the need of practicing truthfulness in all spheres of life. He said he has personal experience with general people living in USA, Japan and Germany who have inherent trait of being truthful and honest in their day to day life.

Prof Siddiqui also advised against extravaganza while making judicious and austere use of one’s available resources to cope up with the temptations for luxurious life. He added that for all this, such people get trapped in debt and helplessness that ultimately shatters their personal and family life.

Dr Tariq Ahmad Malik, Member Permanent Accountability Commission (PAC), JKYF threw light on the characteristics of a selfless volunteer. He urged volunteers to perform in a most responsible manner to build JKYF a model social service organisation.

Central executive committee member Nisarul   Haq spoke about the importance of Ramadhan for personality development.

Earlier, JKYF General Secretary Mr Mohammad Yaqoob Reshi presented resume of various welfare and rehabilitation programmes of JKYF.

On behalf of incumbent Chairman Mohammad Ahsan Rather, ex Chairman Mohammad Rafiq Lone presented vote of thanks.

Volunteers from all the districts of Kashmir division attended the programme.

Scholars of BAITUL HILAL namely Yawar Ahmad, Aqib Rashid and Yasir Ahmad recited verses from Holy Qur’an, Naat (Praise Poetry) and Dua (supplication) respectively.
