Baramulla: The link road from Pattan to Kunzer in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has been turned into a dumping site with locals disposing of cow dung on the road side and the authorities ignoring the issue.

“This road connects several areas of north Kashmir with famous tourist destination Gulmarg and it presents a horrendous picture of the area to the travelers,” a local resident said.

“The villagers of Chukar, Newran and Sari-Warpora have dumped cow dung along the road from NTPHC Chukar to Check-Sari, which is turning out to be a eyesore,” said Momin Wani, a local resident of the area.

“The cowdung on the road emanates a foul smell and poses a threat to the health of the residents,” he said.

“Many households are dumping the cowdung on the roadside and no one is questioning them over this,” said Shabir ahmad, another local resident.

Meanwhile, locals of the area appealed to the Block Development Officer (BDO) Wailoo and Pattan to personally visit the area and take strict action against those households who are involved in the act.
