Police arrests three drug peddlers in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Thursday.

He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Tapper Bala Kreeri intercepted a vehicle truck bearing registration number JK05L-3267 with two persons onboard. The duo was identified as Aqib Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Karim and Tanveer Ahmad Malla son of Mohammad Ramzan, both residents of Mahrajpora Sopore.

During search, officers were able to recover 432 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus and 5 syrups of Codeine Phosphate from their possession. They been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kreeri where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman added.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Kreeri and investigation has been initiated, he said.

In another such action police at a checkpoint established at Laghama Uri intercepted a person identified as Manzoor Ahmad Janjua son of Akbar Din Janjua resident of Machikrund. During search, officers were able to recover 36 grams of Charas like substance from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station Uri where he remains in custody, the spokesman said.
