DC visits fire victims of Bus Stand Kupwara, extends sympathies

Kupwara: Over one dozen shops and a residential house were gutted  in a fire incident on Thursday morning at Dar Gali in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

An official said that fire that broke out in the wee hours of Thursday morning damaging an old structure. The structure belongs to Haji Abdul Gani Dar.

An official said that the F&ES reached the spot immediately after receiving information in this regard.

An employee of F&ES part of the operation, said that they immediately swung into action and rescued a family, adding that no injury or loss of life was reported in the incident.

Meanwhile, Tehsildar Kupwara said that the damage and the exact number of shops gutted in the fire incident are being verified and shall be shared accordingly later.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan paid a visit to the shopkeepers whose shops had gutted in an overnight fire incident in General Bus Stand Kupwara.

On the occasion, the DC expressed sympathies with the affected shopkeepers and assured all possible support from the District Administration.

She urged the need for a Fire Safety Audit of all shop establishments in the Kupwara town to minimize the risk of such incidents in the future. She also appealed to the people to take proper care of their surroundings to avoid such unfortunate incidents.

The DC was accompanied by Tehsildar Kupwara and other concerned officers.
