Shopian: The District Hospital Shopian in south Kashmir is set to have a CT-scan facility as a machine has been brought to the hospital which is being installed there next one week.

Noted social workers of Shopian Mansoor Magray and Mitha Gatoo said that despite its upgrade to a district hospital, the institution is still functioning without the much-needed CT scan facility.

They said that they have met LG Manoj Sinha, commissioner secretary health and other officials in this regard following which a machine was sanctioned for the hospital.

“It was made possible due to personal interventions of Director Health Services Kashmir, DC Shopian, CMO Shopian, MS DH Shopian,” they said.

“The lack of a CT scan machine in the district health centres forced people to visit expensive private diagnostic centres or other hospitals. This is a burden, especially for those who cannot afford these services,” they said.

They along with locals requested higher ups to install the machine at an earliest and make arrangements of manpower required so that the patients can avail the service and won’t be forced to visit Srinagar for CT scan where they have to wait for an entire day to get their turn.

An official of the district hospital while confirming that the machine has been brought to the hospital said that the engineers who have to install the machine have also arrived here.

He said that from tomorrow installation work will be started and the machine will be made functional in the next one week.
