Sopore: In the grand finale of 2nd addition of Goodwill Cricket Tournament played at Subhana stadium here in Sopore, Zone Sopore beat Zone Dangiwacha comprehensively by 50 runs.

Mudasir Sharif of Zone Sopore was declared man of the match for his economical bowling spell. He took 3 wickets in his 3 overs and conceded only 19 runs.

Earlier Zone Sopore managed to score 166/7 in allotted 18 over’s. Bash Yatoo with 57 and  Peer Akib with 44 were the top scorers for Zone Sopore. In reply Zone Dangiwacha were restricted for 116/9, King Khan remains top scorer with 44.

Chief guest ADC Sopore, Shabir Raina, Principal government Boys Higher Secondary Shcool Sopore Mushtaq Sopori, C.E.O Baramulla and various famous dignitaries of the town including several sportspersons graces the occasion.

The tournament was conducted by the department of physical education Higher Secondary School Sopore under the patron ship of principal Mushtaq Sopori. All together 8 different zones from district Baramulla participated in this competition.

Mushtaq Sopori, principal of Boys Higher Secondary School, Sopore, in his welcome speech on this occasion, while explaining the aims and objectives of organizing this grand cricket tournament, said that such sports activities would provide entertainment for sports fans.

At the same time, it paves the way to attract the new generation to sports and keep them away from the stress and crime like activities.

Apart from appreciating all the participating teams, he also congratulated the winning team of the tournament.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore Shabir Ahmad Raina and Chief Education officer Balbir Singh Raina in their speeches congratulated Principal Mushtaq Sopouri and his staff and especially the sports wing of the school for the successful organization of the tournament along with curricular activities as well as extra-curricular activities in particular.
