Illegal extraction of minerals: Police seizes three vehicles, arrests drivers

Srinagar: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized three vehicles and arrested three persons in Baramulla, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

He said that a police party seized three vehicles (tippers) and arrested their drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Check Razak Khan.

They have been identified as Ashiq Hussain Hajam son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Chayira Budgam, Mohammad Farooq Parray son of Abdul Ahad resident of Bundgam Magam and Mohammad Jaffar Bhat son of Mohammad Ishaq resident of Khonchipora Tangmarg. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pattan and investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
