Pulwama: The residents of different areas of Tral sub division of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded construction of a bridge over Watal Ara Nallah behind SDH building in the town.

The residents of area said that they are facing lot of problems in the absence of a bridge there as the old bridge was washed away by flash floods recently.

They said every year makeshift arrangements are being made but every year it gets washed way due to which people of different areas are suffering as it is the shortest route for several villages to reach Tral town.

They said that elderly people, women and children are facing lot of problems in absence of a concrete bridge.

Nasir Ahmad, a local resident, said that they are facing lot of problems in the absence of bridge, especially in case of an emergency.

He said that instead of making makeshift bridges, government must construct one concrete bridge for a one time solution.

Since last many years efforts were made to inform the district officials to initiate some procedures so that the construction of the bridge becomes a reality, but on ground nothing has happened, the locals said.

“Government has spent Crores of Rupees on different works everywhere but have failed in constructing of a concrete bridge over the nallah,”Mohammad Umar, another local said.

He said that a makeshift bridge is being constructed but it is very risk to cross the nallah especially when the water level rises.

Locals said that they have knocked on the doors of every government authority to get their issue redressed but to no avail.

“We have high hopes on LG Manoj Sinha and DC Pulwama that they will look into it and direct the concerned authorities to cosnrtuct a bridge over the nallah,” they added.
