Auto driver killed in Shopian

Srinagar: A Jal Shakti Department vehicle driver and a his helper were killed in a tragic road mishap in Verinag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday afternoon, officials said.

They said that a vehicle of Jal Shakti Department (previously PHE) skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Raen Chowgund in Verinag, resulting in on spot death of the driver and his helper.

The deceased duo has been identified as Wazir Ahmad Khan (Driver) and Gowhar Ahmad Dar.

Meanwhile a police official has also confirmed about the death of the duo in the incident. Meanwhile, a load carrier driver died after his vehicle collided with another in Vehil area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

An official said that the load carrier collided with another vehicle near Vehil, resulting in injuries to the driver of load carrier.

He said that the driver was shifted to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

He has been identified Aiyaz Ahmed Wagay (30) son of Mohammad Amin Wagay of Choudrigund Shopian.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.
