Police arrests three drug peddlers, contraband substances recovered

Srinagar: Police has arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and Ganderbal districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

A police party at a checkpoint established at Bonigam Qazigund, intercepted two suspicious persons who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully, the spokesman said.

During search, 75grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Mansoor Ali Najar son of Ali Mohammad Najar and Bilal Ahmad Wagay son of Abdul Rehman Wagay, both residents of Vessu Qazigund. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, the spokesman added.

Meanwhile, in Ganderbal, a police party at a checkpoint established at Chinner intercepted a suspicious person coming from Wussan side towards Kangan who on seeing police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by alert police party, the spokesman said.

During checking, officers were able to recover contraband substance from his possession. He has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Khan son of Noor Mohammad Khan resident of Bela Wassan. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody, he added.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, the spokesman said.
