Srinagar: Police on Monday booked two drug peddlers under PIT NDPS Act in Awantipora, Pulwama, a police spokesman said.

He said that continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Awantipora have booked two notorious drug peddlers under PIT NDPS Act  after obtaining formal detention orders  from the competent authority.

“The two drug peddlers have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Sheikh @Patanjali son of Ghulam Qadir Sheikh resident of Tulbagh Pampore and Javaid Ahmad Dar @Brichi son of Mohammed Akram Dar resident of Meej Pampore”, the statement reads.

“It is pertinent to mention that the duo was involved in many NDPS cases. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, the accused were promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth in Pampore and its adjoining areas. Subsequently, the cases were duly processed and after obtaining sanctions from the competent authority, the arrested drug peddlers were detained under PIT NDPS act”, the statement reads.
