Effective utilisation of industrial waste needed
Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
We know that industries also produce waste products which are hazardous for environment. Dumping of the waste products in a isolated location is of great challenge.
We came to know that roads are getting constructed using plastic waste which is good for suppressing environmental pollution. A recent invention of Plastic roads opens up a new challenge that why can’t road construction also utilise wastes from industries such as Fly ash from thermal power plants, waste from rubber industries, used sands i.e. in shell molding from foundries, kiln dust from cement industries, Waste engine oil from automobile industries, slag produced in furnace from steel industries, Dust from marble industries, waste from glass industries etc.
If industrial waste can be effectively utilised in road construction it not only helps in controlling the environmental pollution but also improves the economy of the country. In this direction a lateral thinking is need by the central government.
