Road Safety Week: Free Eye Medical Camp held for hundreds of Drivers at Budgam

BUDGAM: The Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Budgam, in continuation of the observance of National Road Safety Week on Thursday organised a daylong free eye screening and medical camp for drivers.

The camp was organised in collaboration with CMO office Budgam.

During the camp, hundreds of drivers were screened for eyesight check up and other health screening by concerned doctors.

On the occasion, the drivers also appeared in a driving trial test after their eye screening.

ARTO Budgam, Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad thanked all participants, departments for extending their support in organizing the event.

He said as many as Rs 1.50 lac people die annually in our country due to Road Traffic Injuries and many more are permanently disabled. He said these are alarming figures and as such India stands committed to bring down fatalities and Road Traffic Injuries.

In this connection, National Road Safety Week is being observed every year wherein a number of activities are being carried out on the matter of Road Safety.
