DECC Sgr holds Job Fair at Polytechnic Clg Gogji Bagh

SRINAGAR: District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC) Srinagar on Saturday conducted a day long job fair at Kashmir Government Polytechnic college Gogji Bagh, here.

The event was held in an endeavour to provide a convenient platform to the educated unemployed youth and Job seekers, and facilitate their interaction with the Private Companies and Employers for Training, Skilling and placement.

The Job fair was inaugurated by Director Employment J&K Nisar Ahmad Wani in presence of Joint Director Employment Kashmir Division Hakeem Tanveer, Principal KGP Imtiyaz Ahmad Shaw and Deputy Director Employment DE&CC Srinagar Dr. Sheeba Inayat.

Around 27 Private Companies and Skill Development Organisations operating in varied sectors and fields including M/S Tribe 21, Panaash Educational Venture, Scion Project Management and Tax, Alien Tour & Travels, Kashmir Unit Bombay Stock Exchange, SBI Life Insurance, LIC, PNB Metlife, Kashmir Private Hospitals and Nursing Association, ILS, Whizkids, NCSC for Speciallyabled, TATA Kashmir Valley, Mahindra Shuhul, Fairdeal Motors, Jamkash Maruti, Ashoka Leyland, Rooman Technologies participated in the event.

Resource Persons from Government line departments including District Industries Centre, KVIB, Skill Development Department also disseminated the information about their respective schemes and programmes.

The event saw an overwhelming response from the Job seekers and companies. Director Employment visited the stalls and interacted with the participating youth and representatives of private companies.

Director Employment in his address emphasised upon them to come out of the traditional mind set up and participate in such kinds of events to extend their horizons of vision and wisdom.

He further briefed the audience about the options available in private sector, public sector and incentivized schemes under the self employment sector.

The Managing Directors and representatives of the participating private sector establishments also spoke on the occasion and acquainted the participants regarding the job opportunities, skill development and employment oriented courses offered by these companies.

Around 10 unemployed youth were provided on spot offer letters by M/S Alien Tour and Hospitality Services and Tata Motors, 619 fresh registrations were made and 427 candidates were shortlisted for the next rounds.

Moreover sanction letters were handed over to 45 candidates under different Self Employment Schemes including PMEGP, JKREGP, Mumkin and Tejaswini schemes.
