Budgam hit and run case solved within hours, accused arrested

Srinagar: Police have solved a hit and run case in Budgam within hours after it arrested an accused person involved in the commission of crime, a police spokesman said on Saturday.

The Police spokesman said the vehicle was seized as well.

He said that Police Post Soibugh received an information that an accident was reported at Hakermullah Budgam wherein an unknown vehicle hit and injured a pedestrian namely Iman Gulzar (15) daughter of Gulzar Ahmed Hajam resident of Harkarmulla Budgam.

“The injured was taken to JVC Hospital for treatment where she succumbed to her injuries,” the spokesman said.

He said a case vide FIR number 381/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation was initiated as well.

“A police party from Police Post Soibugh started a hot pursuit of the unknown driver and succeeded in arresting the accused driver within hours of the incident,” the spokesman said.

The police have identified the driver as Shahid Nazir son of Nazir Ahmad Hajam resident of Harkarmulla Budgam.

“He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody. The vehicle bearing registration No. JK04G-9135 involved in the hit run case has also been seized. Further investigation of the case is in progress,” he said.
