Pulwama: Several government departments in Tral Sub division of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are working in rented buildings which has resulted in space crunch in these offices.

An official said that there are no permanent offices for vital departments and these offices have been functioning in rented buildings for years together.

The offices which are functioning in rented buildings in Tral include R&B, Agriculture, Social welfare, Treasury and KGVB.

“On one side the government has to pay per month in thousands while on the other hand officials working in these offices are suffering due to space crunch,” the official said.

Locals from Tral town expressed their concern over the issue and said that instead of paying rent to the owners of the buildings, the same amount would have been utilised on the construction of permanent buildings for these offices.

“In absence of permanent buildings, these departments work at one place for some time and then shift to other place due to which takes a toll on the public delivery system,” he said.

The locals said they have brought this issue to the notice of the government several times but to no avail.

The locals urged the higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that people as well as officials will not suffer anymore.
