Drug peddler arrested in Gbl, contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police have arrested a notorious drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said on Saturday.

He said a Police Party led by in-charge Police Post Shadipora under apprehended one person during patrolling at Wakura.

“During search, 11Kgs of Cannabis Powder (Bhang) was recovered from his possession,” he said.

The spokesman said the accused has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Rather @Kanwar son of Ghulam Mohidin Rather resident of Ganai Mohalla Wakura.

“He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody,” he said.

Notably, the accused person had been previously booked under three NDPS cases, two in Police Station Ganderbal and one in Police Station Kheer Bhawani.

“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 316/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Ganderbal and investigation has been taken up,” he said.
