Sheetal Nanda visits Kathua polling stations to oversee ER updation
KATHUA: Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Sheetal Nanda on Saturday conducted an extensive tour of Polling Stations of Kathua district to oversee the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) exercise.
Notably, Nanda has been designated as Observer for Electoral Rolls (ER) for Kathua district.
At Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua, the Observer enquired about the pace of updation of electoral roll from the concerned Booth Level Officers.
She called for making the exercise inclusive by enrolling all the eligible voters besides making necessary updation including deletion and correction of particulars of voters.
Sheetal Nanda laid emphasis on ensuring seeding of Aadhaar numbers with all new eligible voters besides making the revised electoral rolls free from discrepancies and error free.
She later visited GHS Logate, GHSS Sallan, GDC Hiranagar and GHSS Kootah and attended special camps being organized as part of Special Summary Revision in all the designated Polling stations of the district.
District Election Officer, Kathua, Rahul Pandey, informed that the Special Summary Revision is going on in full swing in the district besides SVEEP activities are being organized to inform the masses about their right to franchise.
During her visit, she kick started Jan Abhiyan activities of Kathua district and flagged off a rally as part of Beti Janamahotsav at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua.
She also gave away Nutritional and Baby kits among the beneficiaries.
Similar programme was held at GDC Hiranagar where the Commissioner Secretary gave away Nutritional and Baby kits among the beneficiaries of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao beneficiaries.
In her address, Nanda said the Department of Social Welfare is making efforts towards welfare and empowerment of women besides running advocacy campaigns to encourage birth of girl child so as to achieve healthy Child Sex Ratio in entire JK UT.
