Police arrests two persons over illegal extraction, transportation of minerals

Srinagar: Police have arrested two persons and seized two vehicles in Budgam over their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

A police spokesman said a police party from Police Post Soibugh intercepted two tippers bearing registration numbers JK04E-4899 and JK04E-8398 at a checkpoint established at Soibugh Chowk.

“The vehicles were loaded with soil, illegally extracted from Government land at Garend Kalan,” the spokesman said.

He said both the vehicles have been seized and identified the drivers as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Ahad Dar and Mukhtar Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Akbar Ganie, both residents of Shahpura Chatabugh.

“Both the drivers were arrested,” he said.

He said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Budgam and further investigation has been initiated as well.
