'Pak supplying drugs to damage the mind & health of our youth and ruin their future'

Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Monday said that Police and public have to work together to secure the bright future of our youth.
He said the past which has given pain has to be left behind so as to provide a peaceful environment to our coming generations.
He said this while addressing the audience while laying the foundation stone of two multi-storeyed conventional structures, one each at Bhagwanpora and Sangam in Srinagar district.
The DGP said that the situation in J&K has improved a lot during the last three to four years and the working of police and other forces has been appreciated at all levels. He said a mutual respect among the personnel of police and the public was apparent.
“J&K Police personnel come from the same society and work for the betterment of his own society,” he said and complimented Police and forces for showing patience and restraint during tough times while maintaining peace and order.
He said that the impressions about some areas are changing now noting that the J&K police and public have to continue working together for the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
The DGP said that it has always been an endeavour of the Police department to come closer to its people in order to secure their lives and property.
“Today’s foundation stone laying ceremony is a part of that endeavour,” he said and appreciated and expressed his gratitude to the people of the area for providing their support and a piece of adjacent land for construction of a police building.
He said that the Police officials posted in these areas are for people’s security so that society at large remains comfortable.
He directed the jurisdictional officers to take necessary steps to solve the grievances of the people on priority. He said that the J&K Police was expecting full support and cooperation from people in maintaining peace and order.
Speaking of the new challenge of narcotic terrorism the DGP said that it was high time to take action against the menace.
He said that the JKP’s drug-de-addiction centre which is functional in the downtown area is providing all necessary facilities and services to the drug addicted youth.
“During my visit to the centre few days back, the effected persons under treatment in the center thanked JKP for its services in saving the young lives,” he said.
He said that those youth who were trapped unknowingly in the drug abuse and have acknowledged that the path of drug addiction as a path of destruction should work as role models to other youth and advise them about the ill effects of the addiction.
He appealed to the locals of the area to discuss and guide the youth through mosques & community meetings to stay away from the menace.
He said that Pakistan was continuously supplying drugs with an aim to damage the mind and health of our youth and ruin their future. He said that all of us have to play a role to save our youth from destruction.
