Police arrests 13 persons, seizes as many vehicles in Budgam, Bpr

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested 13 persons and seized 13 vehicles involved in the commission of crime in Bandipora and Budgam districts, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.
In Bandipora, a police party of Police station Bandipora following information about illegal excavation and transportation of minerals in their jurisdiction, intercepted five tippers and two tractors loaded with illegally extracted minerals from various nallahas and streams.
“The vehicles have been seized and their drivers were arrested,” the handout reads.
Similarly in Budgam, Police station Magam and Khansahib conducted raids at Rudbugh and Nallah Arizal respectively and seized three tippers, two tractors and one JCB involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
“The drivers of these vehicles including a JCB driver have been arrested,” the police handout reads.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
“Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law,” it read.
