15 Vehicles, 1 JCB involved in illegal mining seized at Anantnag
ANANTNAG: The Geology and Mining Team Anantnag headed by District Mineral Officer have seized 15 vehicles and one JCB found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
The vehicles were transporting the minerals from Sandran Nallah and other areas on September 01 of 2022 and intervening night of September 01 and 02.
As per reports, the operation was carried out by Geology and Mining Department in various areas of District Anantnag including Checki Rajwali, Damjan, Shankerpora, Mehmooabad, Dooru and Larkhipora.
The operation was held with the assistance of police from Qazigund and Dooru police stations. During the inspection, one JCB, 15 vehicles including 11 tractors, three tippers and one screener were seized.
After seizure the vehicles were retained by respective police stations till realization of penalty from the offenders as per the rules of Geology and Mining Department.
