Strengthening of agriculture schemes need of the hour: Atal Dulloo

Says move can create employment avenues for youth

SRINAGAR: The Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Production Department (APD) Atal Dulloo on Friday said that mushroom was emerging as a lucrative option to boost farmers’ income.
He said strengthening of allied wings like mushroom, floriculture, and apiculture was inevitable for the overall development of the agriculture sector.
Dulloo said this during his visit to Mushroom Section and Floriculture Section of Directorate of Agriculture Lalmandi here.
He said Mushroom production was becoming popular among the farmers and asked the concerned officers to increase awareness among the farmers regarding the agriculture allied activities like mushroom cultivation.
He further said keeping in view the agro climatic conditions of our region Floriculture has also a great scope.
He impressed upon the concerned officers to formulate strategies so that the educated young farmers could be attracted towards the floriculture sector.
Earlier, Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal gave a detailed presentation of various schemes and interventions by the department for the production and promotion of agriculture allied wings like mushroom and floriculture.
