Pulwama: The patients visiting district hospital Pulwama on Friday complained about non-availability of chemotherapy facilities for cancer patients in the hospital.
They said they have to rush to Srinagar hospitals which are miles away and appealed to the district administration to take measures in this regard so that the patients will get the facility in their own district.
A cancer patient said that he has to go to Shireen Bagh Hospital in Srinagar every week for chemotherapy.
“The Jammu and Kashmir Health Department had assured to provide chemotherapy facilities in District Hospital Pulwama, but this promise made to the people could not be fulfilled till now,” he said.
Another patient from Rajpora, said that people with low income are benefitted from the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission but they have to bear the burden of thousands of rupees for travelling due to the non-availability of these facilities in District Hospital Pulwama.
Locals of Pulwama said that if a chemotherapy facility is made available in the Hospital, it will provide relief to the patients.
The locals demanded District Development Commissioner Pulwama Baseerul Haq Chaudhary to play his role in this matter.
“We hope that the District Development Commissioner will take the matter seriously and take necessary steps for ensuring chemotherapy facilities in addition to other facilities in the hospital,” the locals said.
