Police arrests two drug peddlers

Srinagar: Police Friday arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said here.
He said that a police party from Police Station Kreeri and Police Post Wagora arrested one woman drug peddler during routine naka checking at Wagoora Baramulla. During search, officers were able to recover 250 grams of Charas like substance from her possession. She has been shifted to police station where she remains in custody. While as, she was accompanied with her spouse who managed to flee from the spot due to darkness however, efforts are on to nab him.
Accordingly, case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kreeri and investigation set into motion.
Elsewhere, in Awantipora, acting on specific information, a police party intercepted a vehicle (Tata Mobile) bearing registration number JK01AQ-2989 driven by Mohammad Amin Wani son of Abdul Gani Wani resident of Takiya Ahmadshah Bandipora.
During checking, officers were able to recover 5.1Kgs of Charas like substance from the said vehicle. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 157/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation initiated, the spokesman added.
