Police arrests RDD employee, heroin worth crores recovered

Srinagar: Police foiled a bid to smuggle Heroin worth crores by arresting an accused person in Baramulla, a police spokesman said Friday.
Acting on specific information regarding smuggling of drugs, Police at a checkpoint established at PVCP-2 (Galla) Uri intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01AK-2765 driven by Mohammad Zaid Shah Geelani son of Syed Hasaan Din Shah resident of Basgran Uri (a govt employee working in RDD).
During checking, 10 Kgs of Heroin worth around 20 crores was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, the spokesman added.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 54/2022 under relevant section of law has been registered in Police Station Uri and investigation has been initiated, he said.
