Kissan Mela held at Dooru

ANANTNAG: The KVK Anantnag, SKUAST-Kashmir in collaboration with ATMA organized a Kisan Mela at district level in the premises of Krishi Vigyan Kendra under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ regarding “Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari” campaign on 26th April 2022.
More than 400 farmers participated in the Mela.
The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla, was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Ghulam Rasool Wani SDM, Dooru was guest of honour.
Dr Singla on the occasion edified the role of KVK and allied departments. He stressed on adoption of new farming technologies and efficient utilization of resources.
He also encouraged the role of new entrepreneurs for their employment generation and advised rural youth to get Skill Development Trainings in order to generate their livelihood.
Farmer-scientific interaction & technical discussions under different aspects were also conducted during the Mela. Farmer’s queries were answered by the scientists and officers of the line department during the mela.
Dr Manzoor Ahmad Ganai, Programme Coordinator KVK, Anantnag briefly presented the role of Kendra in developing the farming community. He also edified the role of KVK in empowering the rural youth by providing different skill development training. Three progressive farmers and three entrepreneurs were felicitated during the mela by certificates and mementos.
Moreover, three best stalls were also felicitated by the District Development Commissioner. The programme was also attended by Chief Agriculture officer, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep, Fisheries and JKSRLM (UMEED).
