Sopore residents complain power cuts during Sehri, Iftaar

Sopore: The residents of various localities of Sopore town and its outskirts here complained of unscheduled power cuts during the holy month of Ramadan.
Inhabitants of Noorbagh, New colony, Naharpora, model town, Badam bagh, Arampora, Mahrajpora, Chankhan, Jamia Qadeem, Ningli mohalla,Tarzoo, Mazbugh, Nowpora, Shangar gund, Adipora and Warpora areas said that the power cuts have become more frequent since last one week especially during Sehri and Iftaar.
“Even in Ramdan, we are being forced to have our meals under candlelight as not everyone can effort power inverters at their homes, “said Nasir Ahmad Shah, a resident of Naharpora Sopore.
He said that the authorities should ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Sehri and Iftaar time as it difficult to have meals and perform prayers in darkness during the holy month of Ramadhan.
In Noor bagh and New colony, the residents voiced similar views, saying that the electricity is being snapped during Sehri and Iftaar time, thus leaving the inhabitants to face hardships.
“Despite government’s assurance of continuous power supply during the holy month of Ramadhan the people are being deprived of the basic facility. The frequent power cuts especially during Sehri and Iftaar cause immense hardships to the residents, “Abdul Rehman Zargar, a resident of Noor Bagh area said.
“We appeal the authorities and officials in PDD to provide adequate electricity in this month,” Zargar added.
