Sopore: Fear has gripped the residents of the Noor Bagh area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district as a wild leopard continues to roam around in locality since last three days.

For the last three days, the locals claimed that they are scared as a leopard is roaming around and they are not in a position to go out of their houses especially during night hours.

One of the residents said that they have confined themselves to the four walls of their homes even during these days of Ramadhan when people would otherwise love to visit Masjids to offer prayers.

“Even the school children are to be escorted to school that too in vehicles as we fear for their safety,” another local resident said.

“The forest officials are taking no action to capture the leopard,” he alleged.

The residents appealed to the administration and Wildlife Department to take immediate steps to capture the leopard.
