Market checking intensified across Baramulla

BARAMULLA: In order to ensure the quality and price control in market and to keep vigil on erring traders especially in the ongoing month of Ramadan, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina accompanied by officers of FCS&CA, Food Safety, Municipal Council and various other departments Monday conducted market checking at various locations of Baramulla.
During inspection, the checking team realized a fine of Rs 13900 from various shopkeepers for violating the legal regulations. They also destroyed contaminated vegetables and spices.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that such drives will be conducted on a routine basis so that quality of commodities is ensured. He also urged traders not to violate the rules besides displaying the rate lists at their respective Shops.
The ADC also warned the vendors not to encroach the footpaths failing which shall render action against the violators.
Moreover, the team also seized a sizable amount of polythene from some shopkeepers besides inspecting other necessary commodities.
