The Afghanistan situation is grim
Respected sir,
It is heart-wrenching to see the miserable situation and the grim condition of the citizens of Afghanistan. After the Taliban’s blatant declaration of control over the country, there is all chaos and a sense of panic among the people. For the women, the miseries are one step ahead. Although the Taliban have pledged to allow the education for girls and the working of women in various sectors, the freedom for the Afghan women is never going to be same. In a nutshell, it seems that the nation has once again been carried back on a time machine to the horrific Taliban ruled years of late 1990s.
But with extending an absolute sympathy to the Afghan civilians, I agree with the U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision of troops withdrawal. The U.S. invaded Afghanistan in 2001 to seek revenge of the ghastly attacks on its World Trade Center and The Pentagon coordinated by the Islamic extremist group Al-Qaeda led by Osama Bin Laden.
As the realist approach of the disruption of Al-Qaeda and the killing of Bin Laden has been perceived by the U.S, they are now leaving. The revitalization of the war-ravaged country or the ‘Nation Building’ as termed by Mr. Biden in his latest conference was factually never the motive.
If someone needs to be blamed for the crisis, it should be the Government of Afghanistan. The U.S in the last twenty years has done a military expenditure of Two Trillion Dollars in the nation. It provided logistics, armoury, artillery and air support to the Afghan defence forces for countering the Taliban.
But it is appalling to know that these resources were mishandled and a huge capital went into the pockets of the Afghan leaders. The fellow civilians are now bearing the brunt of their corrupt leaders who fled away leaving them in the dust.
