Closure of schools also extended till May-15

Srinagar, Apr 18: The government on Sunday ordered closure of all Universities and Colleges across Jammu and Kashmir till May-15.

Besides, authorities also ordered an extension for closure of all schools from to May-15.

In this regard an order was issued by the State Executive Committee.

“On the basis of the COVID-19 assessment, the State Executive Committee, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it under section 24 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, hereby orders that all Universities and Colleges in JK shall remain closed for imparting on- campus and in-person education to the students till 15.05.2021,” it reads.

However, it further states that the colleges and universities shall remain open for the courses or programs that require physical presence of students on account of laboratory, research, thesis work and internship.

“Colleges will move to online mode and the Schools across Jammu and Kashmir shall continue to remain closed for imparting on- campus and in-person education to the students till 15.05.2021,” reads the government order.

“The ceiling on the number of people permitted to attend gatherings and functions shall be 20 in case of funerals and 50 for all kinds of gatherings at indoor venues and 100 for all kinds of gatherings at outdoor venues,” the government said.

In case of public transport, the government said, “Matadors, buses, mini buses and other modes of public transport shall ply strictly as per their registered and authorized seating capacity, no standing will be allowed.”

Authorities also ordered the District Superintendents of Police to ensure that this is strictly complied with and punitive measures are taken under relevant provisions of the Law.

“The existing guideline for compulsory testing of all incoming passengers to Jammu and Kashmir shall be strongly enforced, that includes all passengers or travelers coming here, whether by rail, road or air will have to compulsorily undergo a COVID-19 antigen test through any of the prescribed methods as per the protocol,” it reads.

The order further states that all District Magistrates shall put in place an effective mechanism to ensure COVID appropriate behavior in all crowded markets, shopping complexes and malls.

“In this regard, necessary cooperation and support of the local Bazar, market associations may also be taken. Strict action will be taken if anyone is found in violation,” the government said.

It also states that the market associations are encouraged to voluntarily try to stagger opening timings, schedules to reduce crowds—(KNO)
