Establishing a positive relationship between teachers and students is a key aspect of quality education. Successful teachers are those who know how to improve the learning abilities of all the students in their class. The positive relationship between teachers and students builds a relationship with the institution and promotes better performance through collaboration.
Teachers can help students through motivation and goal setting while students can turn to them for advice and guidance. Teachers provide students with a conducive environment for experiments that build their confidence and do not affect their abilities.
Extensive research has been done on the effects of the teacher-student relationship, which has shown that a positive relationship between the two leads to good social and academic outcomes.
The research has identified a number of effects related to learning and achievement. Some of these effects included teaching strategy, academic discussion in the classroom, coherence, teacher expectations, haste, reputation, and class behavior. The research concludes that the positive relationship between teachers and their students leads to a positive and supportive classroom environment, a platform that encourages students to progress academically and personally.
John Haiti said in his research that a harmonious classroom can help develop creativity as well as reduce anxiety in students. The impact on a student’s academic ability should not be underestimated in the context of the teacher-student relationship. Teachers are in a position to provide a great environment for students to learn and thrive by helping and encouraging them.
In another study, Gillespie (2002) acknowledged that the natural characteristics of teacher-student relationships (caring, knowing, trusting and respecting each other) and the positive relationship between them create an environment in the classroom where student’s success is assured.
A 2001 study by Bridget Hamre and Robert Panetta also highlights aspects of how the classroom can be a great place for collaboration and students to benefit more academically and socially. Researchers also emphasize that students who have a positive relationship with their teachers work harder to meet academic challenges and work on their social and emotional development.
There are many different ways to build a positive relationship between teachers and students. Take some time and consider whether such an environment is being provided in your child’s educational institution.
Some features of the best teacher
The majority of students respond positively to an organized environment. Teachers should explain the expectations of students. Rules and regulations must be understandable and consistent. In such an environment, students will have more confidence in their teacher and they will understand that their teacher has the best feelings for them.
Enthusiastic teaching: Teachers teach children by putting their fatigue or personal problems behind them, listening to them, and trying to solve their problems.
Demonstrating a positive attitude: Teachers strive to be positive and positive and to motivate students to adopt a positive attitude.
Fun in the learning process: By making the learning process enjoyable, teachers are able to teach children new things.
Helping students out of the Classroom: Teachers take a genuine interest in the well-being of their students and strive to provide students with the help they need outside of the classroom and to solve their problems.
Treating Students with Respect: A teacher who respects his students also gets respects from his students.
Creating a safe environment: Teachers need to create an environment where students do not criticize, bully, or threaten each other.
Progress is important in the positive relationship between teachers and students, both of which benefit and create useful citizens for society.
