DAK demands impartial probe of Kupwara incident
Srinagar, April 13: Taking the sue-Moto cognizance of media reports about the Kupwara incident in which a patient has allegedly been denied the ambulance services, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) appeals Cheif Medical Officer (CMO) Kupwara to frame an inquiry committee to ascertain the facts.
DAK President, Dr Suhail Naik expressed his dismay over the reports and re-affirmed that doctors community is bound to serve the society and no sort of negligence is acceptable. He further said that Doctors Association Kashmir has time and again requested the higher authorities to club the Maternity and Child Care Services in District Kupwara and other districts so that maternity services can be run 24×7 without any hiccups. This will also decrease the patient referrals to Lala-Ded (LD) Hospital, the medico body said in a statement.
Dr Owais H Dar, General Secretary DAK asked the authorities to make the committee report public.
He further said that under JSSK and JSY schemes which comes under the crucial National Health Mission Services, it is mandatory to provide transport and other medicare services to pregnant ladies and new born babies free of cost.
