CRPF trooper dies in Pulwama militant attack

Srinagar: A paramilitary trooper was killed after militants attacked CRPF camp near Railway station Kakpora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday evening.

Reports said that the militants fired on a CRPF camp resulting in injuries to one person. The injured identified as Head constable Chandrika Prasad of 183 of D coy was rushed to nearby hospital where he succumbed.

A senior Police told a local news gathering agency that militants fired upon CRPF at Railway station Kakpora, which had arrived yesterday there for election duty.

He also confirmed the death of the trooper. The entire area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, PTI adds that the militants attacked a newly set up camp of the CRPF in Pulwama district of south Kashmir Sunday, killing one havaldar.

The ultras opened indiscriminate fire and hurled grenades on the CRPF camp at Kakapora in the district, killing the havaldar and injuring two others, they said.

The camp had come up in view of the ongoing panchayat elections in the state.  (GNS/PTI inputs)
