Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Sericulture Employees and Workers Union Friday staged a protest in Srinagar against what they called ‘unauthorized’ suspension of over 15 employees of the department.
A large number of employees from Sericulture Department assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar and staged protests and raised slogans against the incumbent Director.
They alleged that Director Sericulture suspended 15 employees of the department despite the fact 14 of them had done biometric attendance. The Director issued the order claiming that these employees had no manual attendance.
“One of the suspended is on leave with the permission of the same Director. He is in Delhi for the treatment of his child and yet he suspended him,” the protesting employees said that records and data prove that the suspended employees were not absent from the duties on the day the Director inspected the department.
The employees said that they were suspended because they had staged a protest against the incumbent Director demanding from authorities to appoint any ‘Technical Director’ in the Department.
“The present Director is a non technical one so that is why employees staged protest against him. Little did we know, he will take it personal and will suspend the protesters,” they said.
Despite repeated attempts the Director Sericulture could not be contacted. (CNS)
