Dozens injured in clashes

Srinagar: Dozens of youth on Friday sustained injuries during the clashes between youth and forces at different places across the Valley.
Local sources informed ‘Kashmir Vision’ that at least 20 people sustained injuries during the cashes that erupted between youth and forces in Tikipora village of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The clashes broke out after the youth hit the streets in the native village of PhD scholar-turned-militant, Dr Abdul Manan Wani during which forces used tear gas canisters to disperse the agitating youth.
Funeral prayer in absentia was also held at Tikipora Lolab in which hundreds of people participated. The participants also raised slogans during the funeral prayers in absentia, witnesses added.
In Lalpora area of Kupwara, at least four youth were injured during the clashes in the area after forces chased away protesters by lobbing tear gas canisters.
Clashes also broke out in Anchar area of Soura here after the youth took to the streets and threw stones on the forces.
Witnesses said that the several tear gas canisters and pepper gas were used by the forces to disperse the agitating youth.
In Shopian district of South Kashmir, clashes erupted between youth and forces after the government forces launched Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) following the inputs about the presence of militants there.
The youth hit the streets and started pelting stones on forces after CASO was launched in the area, reports said.
