One day workshop on GST held

District administration held one day work shop on GST here today to train and sensitize the stakeholders for proper conception and understanding of new tax regime GST.

The workshop was attended by district officers, heads of educational and other institutions, traders, contractors, shopkeepers and other concerned people of the district.   

The trainers briefed the participants about new GST model, it’s rules and regulations, impact on tax structures, registration including migration into new GST regime which is in place in the state from 8th July 2017.

The experts and representatives from Commercial Taxes elaborated on all the issues of new Goods and Services Tax and its results and implications for business communities. 

The experts prioritized that there is imminent need for transit from  existing system of taxes to the new Tax regime. They said it is the duty of every eligible supplier and business establishments to become part of GST.  They asked the participants to undergo registration as new taxpayers within the prescribed time limit.

The experts also threw light on procedure of registration and other aspects of the GST. They also responded the queries raised by the stakeholders on different components of GST.  

Speaking on the occasion, DDC said all the eligible Drawing and Disbursing Officers of the District would have to register their departments under GST on website www.gst.gov.in which has been opened for registration.

          The DDC said there is need to get regular feedback on the impact of GST on prices of items of mass consumption and expected problems to be faced by the customers and suppliers. In this regard, he instructed the officers of Commercial and Taxes to extend full support to the stakeholders of Reasi for easy coverage under new GST. 

The DDC further asked the Commercial taxes department to organize more such camps at different places in the district for spreading awareness among the business communities about the new tax structure.
