Various candidates who have applied for the direct recruitment of professors and assistant professors in SK Institute of Medical Sciences Sunday blamed the authorities for ‘violating their own advertisement guidelines.

According to the statement issued here, the aspirants said that SKIMS administration invited applications for direct recruitment of professors and assistant professors through at least four advertisements now clubbed together since July 2015. “All these published advertisements for various disciplines lay out eligibility criteria with regards to qualifications, experience and publications,” the statement added.

The aspirants said regarding publication advertisements have clearly defined that 10 publications are required for the post of professor and two for assistant professor in indexed journals.

“The same description with regards to publications has been published since the inception of SKIMS. And it seems till date case reports, review articles, research articles as 1st author or second author or third author were accepted as publications and all faculty members of SKIMS have been selected till date on these criteria with regards to publication. But surprisingly this time SKIMS administration has rejected 90 percent of applications (close to 140) in violation to their own advertisement guidelines,” the statement reads.

“SKIMS administration has taken a u turn and rejected publications as case report or review articles or even original articles as third author. The administration has wrongly been quoting New MCI guidelines which apply only to promotional posts and are not applicable to direct recruitment positions. It is clear misinterpretation of the rules by the screening committee,” the aspirants said.

Meanwhile, Director SKIMS, Dr A G Ahanger admitted that some of the applications were rejected.

“Yes, we have rejected some of the applications while the screening is still on. We are reviewing the publications to find out the deserving candidates,” he added.
