FDA Conducts 118 Inspections, Lifts 54 Food Samples for Quality Testing Across J&K

Srinagar: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday said it conducted 118 inspections of Food Business Establishments and lifted 54 enforcement samples of various food articles for laboratory analysis to assess their quality and safety.
According to an official statement, the FDA also collected 16 surveillance samples from Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Centres to examine the quality and safety of food being served to beneficiaries.
During the inspections, three Improvement Notices were issued to Food Business Operators for deficiencies observed at their establishments.
The FDA further informed that from July 1, 2026, till date, it has carried out 1,642 inspections across the Union Territory and lifted 878 enforcement samples and 223 surveillance samples for quality testing.
These include 250 samples of milk and milk products, 217 samples of oils and fats, 178 samples of cereals and cereal products, 243 samples of spices, besides samples of other food commodities. During the same period, 89 Improvement Notices were issued to Food Business Operators for various violations and deficiencies.
The FDA has appealed to consumers to report any suspected cases of unsafe or adulterated food through its Toll-Free Helpline No. 104 or via email at [email protected] to help ensure food safety across the Union Territory.
