Srinagar, July 22: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday chaired another review meeting in Srinagar to oversee the government’s response and measures undertaken in the aftermath of heavy rains across Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting reviewed restoration of essential services, road connectivity, ongoing relief operations, and district-wise preparedness.

Officials informed the meeting that electricity supply in the affected areas is expected to be substantially restored by this evening.

Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakeena Itoo attended the meeting in person, while Ministers Javed Rana and Satish Sharma joined virtually from Rajouri.

The Chief Minister directed all departments to remain on high alert and expedite restoration works. He also ordered ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and pre-positioning of food grains and other essential items in vulnerable areas.

Stressing the need for continuous monitoring, the CM said vulnerable habitations must be closely watched and a swift on-ground response ensured until normalcy is fully restored.
