Indian Army, Police And SDRF Rescue 6 Civilians In Flood-Hit Poonch
Poonch, July 19: Troops of Indian Army’s Romeo Force, 39 Rashtriya Rifles, along with SDRF and Police teams rescued six civilians from flood-affected areas in Poonch district on Sunday as part of ‘Aid to Civil Authorities’.
Officials said that, an IA column was deployed at SK Bridge and Dalera from 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs along with SDRF and Police to assist the civil administration in evacuating civilians from inundated areas.
A total of six civilians were safely evacuated four from SK Bridge and two from Dalera from submerged agricultural land. They were escorted to safe areas towards NH-144A.
Subsequently, all the evacuated civilians were shifted by ambulance to Government Hospital, Poonch for medical evaluation.
Officials said the water level of the Poonch River has receded and remains under control at present as compared to the morning, with the overall flood situation showing signs of improvement. (GNS)
