Dear Sir,
Conduct a Reliable Caste Census
The upcoming census inclusion of caste enumeration is a historic opportunity to build evidence based public policies rather than relying on demographic assumptions. India has thousands of caste names with deep regional variations.
Therefore, without a rigorous mechanism for verification and standardization this exercise risks producing a chaotic collection of identities instead of a coherent national database.
To ensure its success the government must prioritize scientific exactitude, independent expert oversight and total political restraint. We cannot sacrifice data accuracy for political symbolism or let statistics become ammunition for competitive identity politics.
Ultimately the value of this census depends entirely on the transparency of its methodology and the wisdom with which the gathered data is utilized to promote genuine social justice and national unity.
