Demand improved power supply to the area

Pulwama: The residents of Bati Pora village in the Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have voiced serious concern over what they describe as a prolonged lack of basic civic amenities, saying inadequate infrastructure and an unreliable electricity network have affected their daily lives for years.
The villagers said that despite repeated representations to the concerned departments, several developmental issues remain unresolved.
They alleged that the absence of essential civic infrastructure, coupled with frequent power outages and a weak electricity distribution system, has added to the hardships faced by the local population.
According to the residents, the electricity infrastructure in the village is outdated and unable to meet the growing demand. They said voltage fluctuations and unscheduled power interruptions have become a routine affair, causing inconvenience to households, students, traders and farmers alike.
“We have been facing these problems for a long time. Basic facilities that people in many other areas enjoy are still missing here. The poor power infrastructure results in frequent outages and low voltage, making it difficult to carry out even routine household work,” said a local resident.
Another villager said the lack of adequate civic amenities has slowed the overall development of the area and affected the quality of life of the residents. “Development should reach every village equally. We only want the authorities to provide us with the essential facilities that every citizen deserves,” he said.
Residents urged the administration and the concerned departments to take immediate steps to strengthen the electricity infrastructure by upgrading transformers, replacing worn-out power lines where necessary and ensuring a stable electricity supply. They also sought the completion of pending developmental works and the creation of better civic infrastructure in the village.
The locals expressed hope that the district administration and concerned MLA would take note of their grievances and initiate prompt measures to address the long-pending issues, ensuring improved living conditions and better public services for the people of Bati Pora.
