Srinagar: Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi brought glamour, excitement and a touch of nostalgia to Kashmir on Wednesday as she visited the INOX multiplex in Srinagar to promote her latest film Baby Do Die Do.

The actor was welcomed by enthusiastic moviegoers and fans who gathered in large numbers at the theatre to catch a glimpse of the star, click photographs and interact with her during the promotional event.

For many young fans, it was a rare opportunity to meet one of contemporary Bollywood’s most versatile performers, while for Huma, the visit carried a deeply personal significance.

Speaking to media persons during the event, the actor described Kashmir as her maternal home and thanked people of the Valley for their warmth and affection.

“My mother is from Kashmir, so this place is my maternal home. Every time I come here, it feels like returning to family,” Huma said.

“The love and support that people of Kashmir have always shown me is truly overwhelming and I want to thank everyone for their affection and encouragement,” she added.

The visit formed part of the nationwide promotional campaign for Baby Do Die Do, a noir-inspired crime thriller that has generated considerable buzz for its unconventional storyline and Huma’s transformative performance.

Known for her memorable roles in Gangs of Wasseypur, Maharani and several critically acclaimed films, Huma takes on one of the most challenging characters of her career in the latest release.

The film follows the story of Baby Karmakar, a deaf and mute woman leading a dangerous double life as a contract killer in Mumbai’s murky underworld while battling the ghosts of her troubled past.

Blending elements of action, psychological drama and noir storytelling, the movie explores themes of survival, revenge and redemption as Baby becomes entangled in a web of crime and deception.

Huma’s largely dialogue-free portrayal has already drawn praise from critics for relying almost entirely on expressions, body language and screen presence to convey emotion and intensity.

The film also features veteran actor Chunky Panday, Sikandar Kher and Rachit Singh in pivotal roles.

Huma’s visit comes at a time when Kashmir’s cinema culture is witnessing a revival, with multiplexes attracting increasing footfall and Bollywood stars once again choosing the Valley for promotions and film-related events.

As the actor posed for selfies and interacted with admirers, the excitement at the theatre reflected not only the popularity of the film but also the enduring bond between Kashmir and Bollywood.

For Huma, however, the trip appeared to be more than just a promotional stop.

For a few hours in Srinagar, the actor was not merely a visiting film star, but a daughter returning to her mother’s homeland.
