Father, son duo among four people killed in road mishaps across JK
Srinagar: A father and his son were among the four people killed in separate road mishaps in Kishtwar, Rajouri and Budgam districts, officials said Friday.
They said that a father son do were killed while two others sustained injuries after a tipper vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Gulabgarh in Kishtwar district on Friday.
An official said that the accident occurred after the driver lost control of the tipper, which rolled down into a deep gorge. Two persons died on the spot, while two others sustained injuries.
The injured were rescued by locals and rescue teams and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, the official said.
The deceased were identified as Anurudh Singh (55), son of Nand Lal and his son Deepak Kumar (30). The injured were identified as Sapoot Singh (35), son of Dhanterar Singh and Ravinder Singh (35), son of Girdhari Lal.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident.
In another mishap, a man was killed and three others sustained injuries after a bus they were travelling in collided with a car in the Rajal-Bagnoti area of the Nowshera sector in Rajouri district on Friday, officials said.
An official said that the accident occurred when a bus bearing registration number AR-20D-1122, en route from Rajouri to Jammu, collided with a car bearing registration number DL-10CN-4885, which was travelling from Lamberi towards Nowshera.
He said Shubam Choudhary, son of Dev Raj and a resident of Kalsian, died on the spot in the accident. Three other occupants of the car identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Jagdish Raj and a resident of Gania, Ranika Choudhary (45) and Swati Choudhary (20) sustained serious injuries and were shifted to SDH Sunderbani for treatment.
The body of the deceased was shifted to SDH Nowshera for medico-legal formalities. Police later took cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway.
Earlier, a youth was killed after the motorcycle he was riding skidded off the road and crashed into an electric pole in the Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday, officials said.
An official said that the rider sustained critical injuries after losing control of his motorcycle, which skidded off the road and hit an electric pole at Chadoora.
He was immediately shifted to the Sub-District Hospital, Chadoora, where doctors declared him dead.
The deceased was identified as Asif Hilal Rather, son of Mohammad Hilal Rather, a resident of Kralpora, Chadoora.
Meanwhile, police has taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation.
