Jammu: As part of the security arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra beginning on July 3, the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and National Security Guard conducted a joint counter-terror mock drill at the Raghunath Temple here on Monday, officials said.

The exercise simulated a high-risk terrorist contingency involving rapid response, area domination, intervention tactics, hostage rescue, casualty evacuation, and inter-agency coordination, a police spokesman said.

The primary objective was to validate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), enhance operational synergy, and ensure a swift, coordinated response to any security contingency.

The exercise was part of a series of joint preparedness drills that will be conducted at vital installations and other vulnerable locations across Jammu, the spokesman said.

He said the objective is to assess operational readiness, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and reinforce the security framework at locations that require a high level of preparedness against potential threats.

The exercise witnessed seamless coordination between SOG Jammu, NSG, and other security stakeholders, reflecting a high level of professionalism, interoperability, and operational readiness, the spokesman said.

He said Jammu Police remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims, residents, and visitors.

“Such realistic mock drills will continue to be conducted regularly to further enhance preparedness and maintain a robust security posture during the Amarnath Yatra and beyond,” he added.
