Sovereignty over Sovereign Funds
The Supreme Court’s stance that the right to associate is not a carte blanche for unbridled foreign funding is a vital assertion of national sovereignty. While non-governmental organizations play a crucial role in grassroots development, financial transparency is non-negotiable.
The Foreign Contribution Amendment Rules 2026 rightfully restrict foreign capital to specific permissible activities within defined geographical bounds. True charity should focus on local empowerment rather than serving external potentially disruptive agendas.
Relying excessively on international donors can create a false impression of national dependency. By mandating strict accountability these rules protect domestic policy from foreign influence while encouraging sustainable self-reliant local philanthropy.
